Can’t Find The Tears

When I got the call, and she said you were gone
I wanted to laugh but I knew it was wrong
Something inside me finally let go
And for the first time I felt I could breathe

I can’t find the tears to tell you goodbye
My heart is so broken the well has run dry
I know I’m supposed to have tears in my eyes
But I cried them when you were alive

All of my life you pushed us around
She stood in between us and she held our ground
Was it all worth the price that we paid?
Well, I thank God that she’s still alive

I can’t find the tears to tell you goodbye
My heart is so broken the well has run dry
I know I’m supposed to have tears in my eyes
But I cried them when you were alive

It’s a fine line we walk between love and hate
I was so lucky that I could escape
What you handed down need not go on
And I’m thankful to those who have turned me around

I stood by your grave with nothing to say
How many times had I thought of this day?
As I turned to go, I heard on the breeze
A song that seemed to whisper, “we’re free.”

I can’t find the tears to tell you goodbye
My heart is so broken the well has run dry
I know I’m supposed to have tears in my eyes
But I cried them when you were alive

I know I’m supposed to have tears in my eyes
But I cried them when you were alive
Oh, I cried them when you were alive
